Send a barcode to your PC
Scan with your phone and the barcode lands on your Windows PC — in a file, on the clipboard or straight into Excel.
Scanning barcodes in the warehouse, at the machine or at goods-in and then typing the numbers into a computer afterwards costs time and produces typos. With barValid satellite your phone takes over the role of the handheld scanner: you scan, and the barcode shows up on your Windows PC seconds later.
The convenient part: phone and PC do not have to be on the same network. No Wi-Fi, no fixed IP address and no firewall exception. Both devices sign in with the same barValid account and the barValid cloud does the rest.
What you need
- An Android phone with the barValid app
- A Windows PC (Windows 10 or 11)
- A free barValid account (how to create one)
- An internet connection on both devices
Step by step

Download the PC program
On your Windows PC, open the satellite page and click Download the Windows client. The file is around 45 MB and ends up in your downloads folder. -
Install it and start it
Double-click the downloaded file and follow the installer. You will then find barValid satellite in the Start menu — launch it from there.If Windows shows a blue warning (“Windows protected your PC”), click More info and then Run anyway. That warning appears for programs that have not been downloaded very often yet.

Sign in on the PC
On first launch the satellite asks for your barValid account. Enter your e-mail and password and click Login. Tick Save login credentials so you do not have to repeat this every time.Signing in to barValid satellite -
Use the same account in the app
Now open barValid on your phone, tap the menu at the top and choose Satellite. If it says “Not signed in”, tap Log in and use the same credentials you just used on the PC. This matters: it has to be the same account — that is how phone and PC recognise each other. -
Switch Satellite on in the app
On the same screen, turn on Enable Satellite. Below it you will read “Satellite active — barcodes are sent via REST”. From now on the app forwards every scan to your PC.The Satellite screen in the app -
Decide what happens to the barcode on the PC
In the satellite, go to Setup → Actions on the left and tick what should happen to every incoming barcode:- Copy barcode data to clipboard — the code goes to the clipboard, paste it with Ctrl + V.
- Write barcode data to file — every code is written to a text file. You set the location and the format (e.g. “Date; Barcode”) right below.
- Send barcode data to virtual keyboard — the satellite types the barcode into whichever window is open, so it lands straight in Excel, Word or your ERP system.

Scan any barcode with the app, then switch to Monitor on the PC: the code appears there with a timestamp and a green tick. The app shows the same entry under Transfer log.The monitor showing a barcode that arrived
Done — that’s all there is to it.
Getting barcodes straight into Excel
This is the most common use case, and it needs just two settings:
- In the satellite under Setup → Actions, tick Send barcode data to virtual keyboard.
- Set Virtual Keyboard Suffix to Enter.
Then open Excel, click into the cell where the list should start and scan. The barcode is written into the cell, “Enter” confirms it and the cursor moves to the next row. Just keep scanning — the list grows by itself. The same works in Word, in an input field of your ERP system or in any other program.
What if I prefer a file?
Then switch on Write barcode data to file instead. The satellite writes every barcode into a text file, with the date in front of it if you like. With Overwrite existing file switched off, new scans are appended, so a complete list builds up over the day. You can open that file in Excel or import it elsewhere.
